"Hero" is a Bollywood romantic action film released in 2015, directed by Nikkhil Advani. It stars Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty in the lead roles, along with Aditya Pancholi, Govinda, Sharad Kelkar, and others in supporting roles. The film received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike and was only able to recover a part of its budget at the box office.
The film follows the story of Sooraj (Sooraj Pancholi), a young man who falls in love with Radha (Athiya Shetty), the daughter of the city's chief of police. Sooraj is a part of a gang that steals cars for a living, and Radha's father is determined to put an end to their illegal activities. Sooraj and Radha's love story is set amidst the backdrop of high-speed car chases, fights, and other action sequences.
The film's director Nikkhil Advani attempted to recreate the magic of the 1983 film of the same name, which had launched the careers of Anu Aggarwal and Rahul Roy. However, the remake failed to capture the essence of the original and fell short in several aspects.
Sooraj Pancholi, who made his debut with this film, showed potential as an action hero, but his acting skills were yet to be polished. Athiya Shetty, who is the daughter of actor Suniel Shetty, had a decent debut but was limited by the weak script.
The film's soundtrack, composed by Amaal Mallik and Jassi Katyal, received a positive response from the audience. The song "Main Hoon Hero Tera" became quite popular and is still remembered by many.
Overall, Hero was a forgettable film that failed to make an impact. It suffered from a weak screenplay, average performances, and lacked the originality and charm of the 1983 classic. Despite having a budget of 36 crores, the film only managed to gross 34.82 crores at the box office, which was a disappointment for the filmmakers.
